Incident Room

Incident Room...

Within a crime such as a kidnapping or a very serious incident occurs an incident room will be set up. This room is a base for the police, this allows for ease when communication is vital, it also helps co-ordinate operations. With an incident room it allows for all people involved and necessary within the case to be in one place at a time this will allow for quick actions to take place. Within the base police can take witness statements and recieve phone calls relevant to the case. These phone calls can consist of the general public calling with relevant information and eye witness accounts. These calls come from the national hotline number (0300). Here the police can contribute all of their time and focus upon one case, in the incident room there is dedicated, trained staff who are specialized in dealing with these special circumstances this is called the Major Incident Team (MIT).

Incident room within the murder of Nicole Simpson and Ronald Goldman…

Within the murder case of Nicole Simpson and Ronald Goldman there was no Incident room, this happened because the police already had a lead suspect (OJ Simpson). However an incident room could have been beneficial within this case as there was a lot of mis-communication between the authorities. Therefore if all communication and co-ordination occurred within one room the outcome of the investigation may have been better than the actual outcome. An incident room may have also been beneficial as the public could have rang in and gave there witness accounts or gave vital pieces of information into the police. By not having an incident room the police may have missed a lot of evidence and by not having this may have been a vital factor of why OJ was found innocent.
