Investigation Plan...

Investigation Plan...

For an investigation plan to be successful it will need good planning, organisation control and motivation from the officers within the investigation. The purpose of this stage is to identify the most applicable line of inquiry. To do these objectives need to be completed in order to gain the best outcome. Resources and priorities need to be considered within this stage meaning the first attending officers need to prioritize their actions and involvement when carrying out their investigation. By making sure the forensic team gathers as much evidence as possible will be beneficial to the whole investigation as possible suspects may generate due to this. The last factor within this stage the authorities will need to consider is how the crime will impact and affect the community they will then need to manage this in order for the investigation to be successful.

Investigation Plan within the murders of Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman...

Within this stage of the murder investigation protocol was not followed in a professional manner. Firstly within the investigation there was no organisation. This was due to the first attending officers not prioritizing different factors. Robert Riske was one of the first attending officers and his first priority was to call the immediate response if needed. Before his response turned up the media approached, this meant that disturbing images of the bodies of Nicole Simpson and Ronald Goldman was flashed all over America. However when the response arrived no official protocol was carried out in order for these pictures to be prevented any more than they could have, instead they put a used blanket over both bodies contaminating the bodies and any evidence. This shows lack of organisation and priorities as forensic evidence was destroyed within this action.

One of Riskes main priorities was too cordoned off the scene. This was not done sufficiently as evidence outside of Nicole Simpsons property was not collected at it was contaminated by the Police and Media. The reason why it was not collected is because Riske never cordoned off this part of the property.

Lack of organisation was also occurred when a Common Approach path was not set out. A common approach path allows for the SOCO's and attending officers to the scene to access different parts of the scene without contaminating any evidence. By not following this procedure Riske risked possible contamination to vital pieces of evidence.
