Chemical Evidence

Chemical Evidence…
Chemical evidence consists of many different substances, for example cosmetics (makeup), paint, gunshot residue, drugs, soil etc. In order to collect this evidence a sample should be taken using a swab. Once this swab has been taken it should be placed into an airtight container and labelled correctly mentioning where it was found. This evidence should be logged into the chain of custody. If a SOCO is unsure of what the substance is certain presumptive tests can be performed, for example the gunshot residue test or (GSR Test) this test can be performed upon site making sure that they are not taking something irrelevant to be analysed.

Chemical Evidence within the OJ Simpson case…
Within the murder investigation of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman there was no chemical evidence found.
